Summerwood is proud to be part of the highly regarded Humble Independent School District. Our own onsite Summerwood Elementary School is located at the heart of the community’s 1,500-acres. This thriving community school is surrounded by a sports park that is open to the entire community after school hours. Next door is a private preschool, Primrose School at Summerwood, which further expands the range of educational and childcare options in and around Summerwood.
The Humble school district has also purchased a site for a future planned middle school in Summerwood planned to open in August 2010. The district's 8th middle school will be adjacent to a new 34,059 square-foot YMCA building. According to the Humble Independent School District, students will use some of the YMCA facilities during school hours, and the YMCA will also offer the organization's usual host of individual and community programs.
Currently, Summerwood students attend Atascocita Middle School, a state-of-the-art campus located just minutes from the community.
Beginning in August 2009, Summerwood students will also attend a new high school. Summer Creek High School will be the district's sixth high school when it opens in August 2009. Located directly across Beltway 8 from Summerwood on a future extension of West Lake Houston Pkwy, a 67-acre site will be home to a 435,000 square-foot campus that will host 9th through 12th grade students. The campus will include athletic facilities and playing fields, an auditorium, career and vocational education facilities and a learning resource center.
